How to Find Listening Devices and Hidden Cameras Using a Bug Detector and Hidden Camera Finder

Admittedly it doesn’t happen very often that you need to find a listening device or hidden camera in your home, office or perhaps even in your business. Industrial espionage is still a pretty big business. That is one reason why camera and bug detectors even exist-to solve that problem. Where are they?

Actually most of them are so small that they can be almost anywhere and not visible. But all hidden cameras and listening devices send out radio frequencies or RF. So if you can find the RF’s, you can find out where the hidden cameras or listening devices are.

Corporate security personnel use sophisticated equipment to sweep corporate meeting rooms to clear them of all devices that send out radio frequencies. Private investigators get hired to do the same thing in a home.

Believe it or not, neighbors spy on neighbors. The incidents of hidden cameras that are placed in public buildings by voyeurs seem to be on the increase. Hidden cameras especially are designed so that they fit in anywhere and no one would suspect that a coat hook, an air freshener or even a wall outlet could be a hidden camera.

There is a bug detector/hidden camera finder on the market that guarantees results that are as good as an RF detector costing much more. It detects wireless cameras, wireless audio bugs, Wi-Fi signals, live cell phones and much more. It can fit right into the palm of your hand because it is only 4 inches tall and 2.25 inches wide. It can detect a signal from as much as 10 meters or 32 feet away. 98% of all RF signals are in the 1 MHz to 6 GHz range which is what this inexpensive model can detect. It works on two AAA batteries that are not included.

There is another model that uses laser frequency visual detection with a scanning range of 1 MHz to 6 GHz. It has an audible RF alert and LED signal strength meter. It also uses two AAA batteries. This can be carried in your pocket or purse for quick sweeps of any area where cameras are suspected. It has a visual detection feature that allows you to look through the specially focused viewing port and find hidden cameras within a 5 to 10 foot range.

If you are the least little bit suspicious of a hidden camera or a hidden listening device in your home, office or corporate board room, this is the best way to find them.

There are inexpensive RF Bug Detectors that work quite well and other camera/bug detectors that use a specially focused view port to find hidden cameras. Check them out here.

I was just reading your article. Rather than buy a RF detector is there something I can make at home to find hidden cameras or listening devices? Thanks

Hi Carolyn, We’re not aware of anything that would be as effective as this device, but please let us know if you run across anything like that.

I lived at [address removed for privacy] and both my parents helped me with the move. I am not sure but today. I am under suspicion that the house dishwasher was bugged. This is what I have heard. How can I track it back to that time. If it is possible and also a van 1996 dodge grand caravan that I bought is also under suspicion of being bugged, can you please get back to me on how to handle the fact that I do know.

Hi Domonique, sorry to hear about that. Did you find the bugs yet? I think the first thing to do would be to find out if your suspicion is in fact true. You might want to investigate one of the counter surveillance devices we have listed here: http://www.thehomesecuritysuperstore.com/counter-surveillance-c=43

Thanks for the comment and let us know if we can help.

    Hello.

Since 2009 and maybe even before, my family (my mother, brother and I) have been spied on by people in the neighborhood who have terrorized us. ABUSE OF POWER. Ever since we moved to this place in Apple Valley, CA terrible things have been happening. Loss of income, wages, stress, crying spells, moving back and forth, terrorism – neighbors calling us “Stupid” and laughing at us, calling 911 for sheriff police brutality, etc. There are cameras inside the apartment and listening devices. We haven’t acquired enough money to move away to a private place so we are stuck here dealing with crazy things everyday that is literally killing us.

Once I discovered what was going on I moved away but I visit sometimes to help my mother and brother who are not physically in good shape. I plan to travel soon but I am worried about them. I really need some help (money) getting us out of here.

Please email me if you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem and move far away.

    Thanks!

Could you advise a forum or a blog about bug detecting where specialists share their experience?

Hi Dmitry, I am not aware of a forum specifically for bug detection. I looked around and so far I haven’t found anything that I’d feel comfortable recommending. Glad to let you know if I come across one and please anyone who uses a forum like this please chime in.

I believe my employer is listening in to conversations I am having, personal conversations. I have a couple of coworkers who are pretty shady and could possibly have planted listening devices in my office. What do you recommend for me to use to look for these devices? I don’t believe there are cameras, but there possibly could be.

Ya I live in spokane wa. Last several yrs I’ve been dealing with this issue and have drove myself crazy on top of it trying to figure out just what it is and where anything could be hidden but have yet to find anything. I’ve noticed neighbors are acting strangely, almost like there’s some big secret I don’t know about, cars fallow me, see people I’ve recognized all over ironically where I go. I’ve felt vibrations, movements, smells, felt as if I were being “operated” on or infiltrated. I lean towards equipment or devices that are able to be operated from a diff location? Any thoughts on what to do or go about how to handle this issue I need it to stop. Possibly know where or whom is serving the power to the network that’s attached over here.

Dan and some of you others: I’m not saying this to be mean. It takes time for someone to look through hours of footage and listen for hours on audio. Most people who hide devices have some kind of motive to spend that time. Your suspicions are VERY broad including many people involved in this plot. If you haven’t done anything bad or illegal, and your life and activities are everyday and boring, mostly mundane, really think, “Would I spend time following ME and watching ME?”
I have 3 family members who have described the same events as you but there is no evidence that anyone can find. They have been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia. Research it and talk to a psychologist to determine if there is even the SLIGHTEST POSSIBILITY that you may be wrong.
